Laptop Hard disk can be used in pc motherboard, because it has same configuration in pc hdd. to be sure, read the manufacturer manual and search if there's any limitation about using it in pc. Here is the steps about plug in your SATA hdd laptop into pc:
1. turn off your computer, unplug the power cable and open computer cover. This is very important, so you or the device can't get electricity shock.2. Connect the sata cable and sata power cable from the motherboard into laptop hdd. Don't get it wrong in installing the cable, push it carefully not with force. the connector is keyed and will fit nicely. incorrect cable connection can burn your hard disk or damage it.
3. check the cable again before turn on your computer.
Thats it....your harddisk is ready to use.
WARNING :
- Use converter IDE to SATA, or SATA to IDE if you didn't have one of the connector.
- You can use Molex SATA Power in PC Power supply, but for caution i usually cut the yellow cable because laptop hdd use 5v. Sata connection power cable = -- yellow : 12v; red : 5v; black : ground
- i try it with my Samsung HM121HI, and work fine. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE HDD MANUAL before plug in, because burning your hdd can lose your warranty
